It handled everything we threw at it and made our journey as comfortable as being at home.

As soon as we set off down the dirt roads, the Cruisemaster ATX Coil Spring Suspension proved its worth. With heavy-duty canister shocks and 12” electric brakes, we barely felt the bumps, even on rocky trails. The DO35 off-road hitch made towing the camper feel solid and secure.
Heading into the bush, we couldn’t help but appreciate the build quality. From the galvanised steel chassis to the composite insulated sides and pop-top roof, everything felt sturdy yet lightweight. Even better, the automatic roof lift and close made setup at camp effortless. No sweat, no hassle.
Once we arrived at camp, it didn’t take long to appreciate the RECONN R2 SE’s attention to detail. Opening the automatic roof liftmade setup at camp effortless and after winding the out external awning, we were immediately set for outdoor living, perfect for those hot summer days when you just want to sit back and relax in the shade.
Inside, we were welcomed by a spacious layout, complete with a queen innerspring mattress that we couldn't wait to dive into after an afternoon of travel. But what really stood out? The café dinette area. Having a comfortable indoor spot to sit and eat dinner with the family made all the difference on this cool evening.
The upgraded Diesel Hot Water System came in handy when the temperature dropped, giving us not just hot water for showers, but also heating under the dinette seat, because who said off-road camping couldn’t be cosy?
We’re no strangers to cooking outdoors, but the RECONN R2 SE’s gourmet kitchen exceeded our expectations. The 3-burner gas cooktop was a joy to cook on, and the 22L black stainless steel sink with a modern black tap made washing up a breeze. The little touches like roller door cupboards and concealed 240V and 12V outlets made everything feel sleek and well thought out.
With the upgraded 130L fridge/freezer, we had plenty of space to store all our food and drinks, and the external slide-out made grabbing a cold one without stepping inside all too easy. Whether we were whipping up a simple breakfast or a more elaborate camp dinner, the RECONN R2 SE had everything we needed.
We love going off-grid, and we pushed the RECONN R2 SE to see how long we could stay out there without needing to return to civilization. The results? Impressive, to say the least.
With 2 x 305W solar panels soaking up the sun, we were able to keep all our essential systems running without a hitch. The 200amp/hour lithium battery ensured we had power to spare, and the Victron MPPT solar charger worked seamlessly to keep everything topped up.
Water supply was never an issue either. The twin 90L water tanks kept us hydrated and clean throughout the trip, while theexternal hot and cold shower was a luxury we didn’t expect to appreciate as much as we did, especially after a long day in the sun.
Every adventure comes with its unexpected moments, but the RECONN R2 SE was ready for all of them. When we needed firewood for the evening, we were glad to have the rear firewood basket. It’s a small touch, but one that made campfires simple and convenient.
We also loved the little details, like the external tap on the drawbar, which was great for quick cleanups, and the bagged ensuite shower tent that provided a private space to freshen up in the wild.
Packing up was just as easy as setting up. The automatic roof closure saved time, and the well-thought-out storage spaces, like the large side storage compartments, lockable front hatches, and under-sink kitchen access meant everything had its place.
As we drove back to Sydney, it was clear that the RECONN R2 SE is more than just a camper; it’s a lifestyle camper. It handled rugged off-road conditions with ease, and when it was time to relax, the luxurious features made us feel like we were staying at a resort, not in the middle of the bush.
